Single mothers and their children are more likely to live in low-income households.
Fox and Moyser, Statistics Canada, 2018
Kids from single-parent families are more likely to face emotional and behavioural health challenges.
When mom isn’t present (mentally because she is under a lot of stress, or physically because she has to work two low-paying jobs around-the-clock to make ends meet, children are left alone which can lead to aggression or engaging in high risk behaviours.
By empowering single moms, you are helping them be there for their children, and helping their children thrive. Your help will provide opportunities for successful positive change and help break the cycle of poverty. Children can thrive in single-parent households if they have safe, stable, nurturing environments and relationships. This can happen when mom can provide for her children and have more time for them.
